Australia is highlighted once more as among the world’s best education destinations in the next education fair organized by IDP Education Philippines this month.

The Australian Education Exhibition 2013 will be held at the Marco Polo Hotel in Davao on Friday, May 17. It moves to the Dusit Thani Makati the following day, culminating with its Cebu staging at the Radisson Blu Hotel Cebu on Sunday, May 19.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s Institute of Statistics reports that Australia ranks among the top five destinations for tertiary education among the world’s mobile students. In 2010, it received 17% of the total number of students hosted in the East Asia and Pacific countries, second only to the United States.

From July 2011 to June 2012, there were 2,633 Filipino students who went to Australia to study, making it the Number 1 study destination of Filipinos.

Students prefer to go to Australia for diploma, certificate, training and further education (TAFE) because the country offers many benefits, foremost of which are internationally recognized qualifications, part-time work opportunities and higher post-graduation employability potential.
Changes were made in March to the Temporary Graduate visa allowing recent graduates the opportunity to spend more time in Australia (to gain practical experience) following completion of their bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degrees.

As it continues to host students from different cultures, Australia is also able to offer an increasingly diversified cultural environment. Graduates then have the advantage of being exposed to a variety of cultures and building an international network of contacts which they can tap into once they enter the workplace.

IDP Education Pty. Ltd. is the world authority in Australian education being 50% owned by 38 Australian universities. It is the world’s largest student placement and English language testing services provider.

IDP Philippines opened in 1996 and has since provided free admissions and visa counselling to place thousands of students in colleges and universities in Australia, the US, UK, New Zealand and Canada. The annual Australian Education Exhibition brings representatives of Australian universities and TAFE colleges to the Philippines for direct consultations and admissions facilitation and is considered the best means for students to consider available education options, providing information on courses and programs, admissions requirements, costs and living arrangements.

Filipinos are on the brink of becoming a significant player in the international market. The deployment of the young abroad to achieve not only a better understanding of other people but also advanced systems can only enhance the advantages they now have. There is no block or hindrance to achieving international recognition except for the reluctance to try. Filipinos, forge ahead!

Pre-registration is required for the seminars. Register online at idpdavao.eventzilla.net, idpmanila.eventzilla.net or idpcebu.eventzilla.net. Like IDP Philippines on facebook or call 236-2758 for daily updates and promo information

Freelancer.com is today’s largest outsourcing website market, it has announced the fastest growing Internet jobs from January to March 2013. It has a wide variety of jobs from being a social media manager to BPO analysts.

With over 7 million members and $1 billion worth of work posted on the site, Freelancer.com is the foremost authority on the online job trends spanning over 234 countries.

Business analysts assessed more than 280,000 jobs completed this past quarter and here are some highlights:

The eCommerce revolution showed no signs of slowing, with its jobs growing 19%. Traditional brick-and-mortar retailers continue to struggle against their online competitors, with many now charging fees for “show-rooming.”

As it continues to make inroads into developing nations, Android saw its jobs shoot up more than 20%. Meanwhile, Apple iPad and iPhone jobs lagged behind, seeing only 11% and 5% growth respectively.

Twitter jobs surged 18% while Facebook jobs dipped 4%, falling in line with a recent Forbes report which saw Twitter’s mobile ads trump Facebook’s. Classic Email Marketing jobs, however, remained supreme, increasing 21%.

3D design jobs soared as 3D printers like MakerBot start going mainstream. 3D Modeling increased by 21%, 3D Rendering by 13%, and 3D Animation by 6%.

BPO jobs skyrocketed a massive 113% as the outsourcing of basic administration tasks rapidly becomes the norm for western small businesses. Additionally, the Chief Executive of Freelancer.com, Matt Barrie, is available to provide you with unmatched insight and knowledge about the industry.

Manila is talking about C3

C3/CustomerContactChannels is a global provider of contact center services unlike any other in the market today. Services include sales, service, performance optimization, reputation management and complete customer interaction management via traditional, web, and emerging communication channels. C3 positively engages and promotes our clients’ brands with every contact we make with their customers

Increase in men and older staff marks industry development

What is it about C3, a customer contact channel at One Bonifacio Technology Tower in Taguig City, that is giving job-seekers and employers alike something to think about?

C3 is not just another call center company. It infuses energy into the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry backed by the experience and the technical knowhow of a team of leaders headed by Andy Sarakinis, vice president and country manager. In a recent press conference held onsite, he shared how C3 came about in the Philippines.

“I was here in the Philippines in 1999 from South Florida to test the waters. Before, 70% of the call center agents were females with the remaining 30% males. Now, it’s 60% women and 40% men. There’s been a shift in the age in today’s BPO agents where the older ones are increasing in number. In 2000 alone, 95% were below 30 years old. To date, there’s an increase in those older than 30, with a few in their 50s joining the industry. Every one of these agents could rise to the next level after three months like one of our fast-rising employees April Torrecampo, who thought she had none of the qualities required of a call center agent, but proved that her latent skill just needed to be harnessed,” says Sarakinis.

Human Resources director Crystabel Cardenas, who has worked in the BPO industry with three other BPO firms, added, “A career path with C3 is equated with opportunities for growth. Globally, about 9 out of 10 C3 employees are promoted from within.

C3 offers above industry benefits to its employees and is constantly outfitting its human relations policies to fit the needs of its workforce. Kevin Urrutia, the Vice President of Operations asserts, “When we talk about pay scales among call centers in the Philippines, C3 is at the 80th percentile – meaning if there are 100 call centers, C3 pays higher than 80 of them.”

“Inexperienced agents, those who have no prior call center experience, receive P16,000 starting pay. Those with a degree of experience receive up to P18,000 monthly wage. Plus they receive HMO benefits that they can share with a family member as long as they remain employed. It could be for a spouse or child, parent or sibling. Beneficiaries are named and could be changed at the start of every contract cycle. Lateral transfers are not done here in Manila yet but in our US branches they do,” she continued.

She also shared why C3 is literally different from the pyramid hierarchy of most corporate set-ups. “We are employee-centric and follow the inverted triangle approach wherein the grievance approach is immediate. This is made possible through regular supervisory visits. Our focus is on the entry level; mostly for support people and agents,” she enthused. Crystabel talks from over 13 years of experience in Human Resources dealing with fast-paced, rapidly-expanding local and multinational companies, and it is no mean feat that C3 now is counted as one of the most effective and productive BPOs in the Philippines.

C3 is definitely making an impact in the Philippines’ customer care industry with its own brand of performance optimization. Performance optimization, an element of C3 University, is where re-training for a new field and/or higher position takes place. It is the ‘silver lining,’ as its mentoring process helps employees climb the corporate ladder of success in their work life.

C3 University is an on-line training tool wherein an employee undergoes an aptitude test. Meanwhile, the Cadet-ship Program runs at an average of three months. The term can be extended depending on an applicant’s performance and evaluation rating. These promotion avenues provide the means to step up the C3 ladder.

When C3 opened on Nov 1, 2011, it started with 30 people on opening day. Now, the employee roster has risen to make C3 one of the fastest growing BPOs to date, as evidenced by an ever-increasing human resource inventory and a steady vote of confidence from its serviced clientele.

C3 is also strong on the value that charity begins at home. Cardenas emphasized that “C3′s core values include open communication systems, accountability and helping the community through our CSR efforts. By community, we begin with our very own agents. For example, the people serving our pantry must be related to an employee. And as long as they have the support and patronage of our staff, they continue serving us with whatever type of food they make available at the refectory.

Also during the Habagat, a number of agents were trapped in C3 and couldn’t go home because the floodwater in their respective areas was really high. So our 11th floor recruitment section was turned into a shelter for them and their families and C3 contingency funds were used for logistics.”

C3’s other international locations include Guatemala City, Guatemala and Panama City, Panama in Central America; Glasgow, Scotland and Sofia, Bulgaria in Europe; and Dalian, China and Mumbai, India in Asia. Its U.S. locations are in Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Oklahoma, and Texas, with headquarters located in Plantation, near Miami, Florida.

I started blogging way back 2009-2010 but it was only yesterday that I realized this – I did a lot of mistakes. I admit that I tried a lot of things but it didn’t work me. From now on I will be applying all that I learned from Khoa.

Thanks to Khoa Bui, speaker of Internet Cashflow Mastery workshop, an event organized by PMCM Events because I was able to learn (again) the important things I should change in the way I do my blogging.

I just want to share a few points maybe there’s many people who feel the same way that I do.

Of all the speakers and talk that I attended it was Khoa Bui’s workshop who has the most organized and complete presentation about the basics of blogging.

If you also tried a lot of things but it didn’t work here’s a few points on How to start a blogsite and eventually EARN a lot from it.

DISCIPLINE

Just like any other field, Discipline is the key to online success. If you do not have self-discipline you will not succeed.

80 PERCENT

At the start remember that 80% of your time will be spent in this area. That includes listing down the things you know a lot about.

JUST WRITE

Select the one that pops out and write over 250 articles out of it. How long is each article? 500-700 words

NO MONEY

Do not think of money and do not think about the look of your blog. A simple one will do for now.

THE EXERCISE

Build an authority posts that contains lots of free information that gives value to your prospects.

If you are having a hard time creating a post then why don’t you try interviewing 30-50 people, transcribe your interview and write an article out of it.

In this exercise patience must be practiced. It is part of discipline.

AVOID STRESS

Do not stress in creating a post. if you want you can apply what Khoa Bui is doing when he is writing a blog-post When he starts writing he uses a timer for 25 minutes and then he stops or he just turns off the monitor. DON’T STRESS.

I’d like to share some tips from Khoa

Have a QUOTA – 250 articles

EXERCISE to Write 10 High quality articles do a keyword research and choose your battle

You can choose from Google Adword keyword tool(free) and choose the low competition keyword.

That’s it for now I’ll have a part 2 of this.

Time is up for me.

I attended Dan Meyer ‘s Analytics training and I learned a lot of things about data anaytics. In case you didn’t know, Daniel Meyer worked for Wells Fargo Bank for 15 years. He has a degree in education. And he’s also teaching English proficiency.

I also had a chance to interview Mr. Daniel Meyer. I found out that his wife is a Filipina. He want to bring analytics to the Philippines.

What is Data Analytics?

It is the science of examining raw data with the purpose of drawing conclusions about that information. And it is used in many industries to allow companies and organization to make better business decisions and in the sciences to verify or disprove existing models or theories.

Why is data analytics is important in business?

It is important to have data analytics because no company can survive without analyzing available data. Some of the benefits of having data analytics in a business are

Structuring the findings from survey research or other means of data collection
Break a macro picture into a micro one
Acquiring meaningful insights from the dataset
Basing critical decisions from the findings
Ruling out human bias through proper statistical treatment

I was able to get insights on how Analytics work but at this time I still do not have that clear idea on how will it work for me as a blogger. As of now I am still learning a lot from Dan Meyer.

Dan Meyer conducts several Analytics trainings in the Metro. Professional. For more information you can visit his company

While most people have an idea of what Analytics is: data, analysis, metrics, and business intelligence are just the start… it is an abstract concept that is difficult to summarize in a sentence or two.
When I hear about franchising I immediately think of Armando Bartolome, the Franchise Guru of the Philippines. It was a year ago when I met him but I never got the chance to ask further things about franchising in the Philippines. When I have time I chat him on Facebook and ask about things I want to know about franchising in the Philippines.

Honestly, I have a bit of curiosity about franchising because I heard a lot of success stories about it and until now it is picking up a lot of earnings. It is considered to be one of the fastest growing business and it has a promising income.

How is franchising helping the economy?

It has created employment, and brings honor to the country as brands go global.

What are the best locations in Metro which are best for a business? Makati, Manila, QC?

Makati and Mandaluyong and no to QC

This was posted from my other blog. I would like to share it here because this experience is memorable to me. It was during the International Coastal Cleanup 2011.

After the recent tree planting activity at The Marikina Water Shed, we did another one as our commitment to Live Positively Philippines!

We had the International Coastal Cleanup held on Saturday, September 17, 2011 in Samal, Bataan.

International Coastal Cleanup (ICC), an initiative of the Ocean Conservancy, is the world’s largest single-day volunteer effort to eradicate litter and debris from beaches, inland waterways and oceans.

Globally, beverage-related items contribute 28 percent of items collected during the cleanup, including plastic, glass and aluminum beverage cans, caps and lids.

Despite of the heavy rain and slippery mud, it did not stop us from reaching the coastal area in order clean up.

It is important for us to play a proactive role and help clean up our coastal communities around the world.

There’s more activities like this of course with the help of Coca Cola in promoting sustainability to the lives of others.

In 2008, Coca-Cola launched a multi-year partnership with Ocean Conservancy through a $1 million pledge to support the ICC. Last year, more than 26,000 Coca-Cola system associates, their friends and families around the world participated in the ICC, contributing more than 200,000 hours of volunteer time and collecting nearly 400,000 pounds of trash.

At the coastal area, we saw dead fishes floating and that awakened us to give our effort in this activity. It is never to late to help out and save our watershed.

Pollution is a major problem here that is affecting the ocean and the rest of the Earth, too.

Because of too much garbage, it directly affects ocean organisms and indirectly affects human health and resources. Now this goes to the food that we eat specially those coming form the sea.

Oil spills, toxic wastes, and dumping of other harmful materials are all major sources of this.

We should learn more about taking care of the Earth and the rest of it’s part because if we will know more about caring for our planet, then definitely we will know more about how to stop pollution.

Our responsibility does not end here. This is our commitment forever.
